Botanical Perfumery Private Workshop | A Journey of Scent
Join me for an exploration of nature's most captivating aromas that have bewitched humans across the ages. Experience over 40 different botanical oils sourced from around the world, then weave them into your own signature scent.
During the class, we'll discuss the different types of aromatics ~ including essential oils, resins & absolutes ~ how they're extracted, and how they can benefit our emotional & physical wellbeing. From familiar favorites like Jasmine & Sandalwood to exotic essences of Labdanum & Oakmoss, our diverse collection of materials includes both masculine & feminine aromas to suit all manner of palates.
Workshops take about 2 hours and can be booked any day of the week. We typically offer sessions at either 1-3pm or 5-7pm.

If anyone in your party has allergies or sensitivities to specific plants or natural ingredients, please let us know in advance.
All materials will be provided to make a 0.3 oz (10 ml) roll-on vial of an oil blend that can be used as a perfume, beauty oil or topical medicinal. This includes locally grown unrefined oils that will serve as the base and a glass vessel.
We will be working exclusively with pure plant extracts; our collection of both beloved & rare aromatics provide a vast range to suit everyone's personal tastes.
This class is designed to be both interactive & informative, so you'll leave with a basic understanding of the topic in addition to your handcrafted blend.
This workshop is held at our private studio in a residential neighborhood near Woodlawn Drive, Mānoa, Honolulu. Please note that this is not a commercial address, but it is a dedicated space for Indigo Elixirs classes & product making.
Ample street parking is available and we are just a few minutes walk (up a small hill) from a #6 bus stop. Entry to the space is up a flight of stairs. Address & arrival info will be emailed after purchase.
Workshops are led by Deanna Rose Ahigian ~ herbalist, educator & founder of Indigo Elixirs. Deanna has spent the past 15+ years immersed in the art & science of herbal medicine & formulation, and is passionate about sharing the creative joys of working with plants. Botanical perfumery was her earliest inception into herbalism, and remains one of her favorite aspects of this work.

Is this class for women or men?
This class is for everyone! We have ample classically feminine & masculine scents, though you'll discover during the class that plant aromas have no gender. The oil you create can be tailored to your unique tastes and worn as a personal scent by both men & women.
The act of perfuming the body with botanicals is an ancient ritual as old as time, and can be enjoyed by all.
Is this class kid friendly?
Yes! Kids of all ages are welcome. If the child is old enough to participate in the class and make a perfume, please include them in your total group size. If a child is too young to participate, they can come hang out for free.
Are the materials natural / organic?
All of our ingredients are extracted from plants, and we source only the highest quality natural extracts available (including essential oils, absolutes, resinoids & SCO2 extracts). Our essential oils are certified organic whenever possible. Our base oils ~ Sunflower & Macadamia ~ are locally & sustainably grown & pressed. We do not work with synthetic fragrance oils.
What is the cancellation policy?
A full refund can be given for cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance of our scheduled session. If you need to cancel within less than 24 hours, you will receive store credit that can be used toward any of our workshops, products, or online courses. If you are unwell, please let me know so we can reschedule!
