When it comes to soothing the digestive system, there is one herbal formula I've turned to again and again ~ my Digestive Harmony Tea. This lovely blend of herbs is perfect for sipping after meals to enhance digestion, as well as to relieve stomach upset in the form of achiness, heaviness or bloating.

For this loose leaf tea, you'll want to have the following whole herbs on hand: Fennel, Anise, Orange peel, Licorice root, Cinnamon & Ginger. You should be able to find them at a local herb shop, in the bulk section at a natural grocer (like Down to Earth), or from an herbal product supplier like Mountain Rose Herbs.
To make your blend, use clean & dry measuring utensils to spoon out the appropriate amounts of herbs into a clean & dry jar:

– ½ cup Fennel & Anise (2 parts)
– ¼ cup Orange peel, Licorice, Ginger & Cinnamon (1 part)

To brew, pour 1 cup of boiled water over 1 tbsp. of herbs and let steep covered for 5-10 minutes, then strain and enjoy. This blend can be stored in a glass jar with tight fitting lid for up to 6 months.

You can also alter the ratios in the blend based on your preferences. If your digestive system tends to run neutral instead of on the cooler side, you can omit the Cinnamon & Ginger. If your body tends to run hot, you can replace these two with Coriander & Mint.
